Composing a Great Recognition Message

Putting emotions into written words doesn’t come naturally to everyone and that’s okay. This post will help with that!  When sending recognition, it is important to follow a few simple guidelines so that the recognition is meaningful and impactful.

  • Make it fun Sending badges to recognize your peers should be exciting so it is important to convey the excitement in your message. Try adding a personal detail, an exclamation point, or a smiley face to enhance your message.
  • Be detailed When writing your message, be sure to highlight the reason behind your message. When your peers know why you are recognizing them, they will be more likely to keep the recognized behavior.
  • Keep it professional It is important to remember that your Social Recognition Platform is tied to your workplace so keeping your recognition message professional is essential.

You can also use the above steps when handing out physical point cards (a great offline recognition tool). Simply write the recognition message on the card before you give it to a team member. This will make in-person recognition more special.

E-cards are another great form of recognition in the modern workplace.  The work-life balance blurs more than ever and employees are beginning to celebrate milestone life events with one another. MTM’s Social Recognition Program (SRP) site comes equipped with a full selection of ecards that range from “Happy Birthday” to “Eid Mubarak”.

Allowing employees to celebrate each other helps to create a happy and healthy work environment. When employees have the freedom to express themselves and share their culture with peers then they will be more likely to stay engaged since they can bring their whole, authentic selves to work.

MTM will also create e-cards for any holiday or occasion that your employees would like to see represented, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you have something specific in mind.
