Defining Recognition Moments
What is a recognition moment? We describe it as any time you reach out to let your team know how much you appreciate them, acknowledge their accomplishments or to celebrate them for any reason. It could be for a specific milestone like celebrating their years of service or it could be to recognize their performance and the list goes on. As a manager, it’s important to know that you should not be the only person recognizing those around you, but you should try to create a culture of recognition where employees and managers all recognize each other. A great way to do this is by using a social recognition platform.
The Towers Watson Global Recognition Study showed that managers and peers who offer recognition to one another are more respected and admired by each other. The report also found that workers who received recognition were more likely to go out of their way to help and support their peers. Also, this study also showed that being praised can have the same impact on job satisfaction as being awarded a pay raise.
